The bracket folds. That is the whole idea. Down, the shelf holds keys, books, a plant or a coffee cup at 6 in deep. Up, it collapses flat against the wall and stops being furniture, which is what makes it work in a hallway, behind a door, or anywhere a fixed shelf would catch a shoulder.

It is cut from solid wood rather than veneered particle board, so the edges can be sanded and refinished instead of chipping to reveal a different material underneath. The grain runs the length of the board and shows through the finish.

Five lengths cover different jobs. The 13 in reads as a single ledge for an entryway. The 32 in spans enough wall to work as a desk shelf or a run of storage above a workspace. All five share the same 6 in depth and the same folding bracket.
